Costs and reimbursements
If you have a Dutch health insurance the costs for an appointment with your GP are paid for by the insurance company because a GP visit is included in the basic insurance. Medication prescribed by your GP is not included in your basic health insurance. However, there are exceptions. Your pharmacy can inform you on these.
If you are just visiting Nijmegen (non-resident) or not having a Dutch health insurance and you are in need of medical care, you can contact us to make an appointment. In that case you will have to pay for the consultation directly, and will receive a receipt. If a follow up consultation on the same complaint is necessary, you will have to pay again for the consultation. This is how the Dutch health system works. You can send all the receipts to your foreign health insurance.
